Recruitment Pitch

Do you see news wherever you go?

Do you think giving your friends the who, what, why, when, where and how is just good communication?

Do you remember how much fun it was in high school to find out information before anyone else—and then share it?

If so, do we have the internship for you!

Nicole Kraft has designed a first-of-its-kind service learning internship course that takes a group of Ohio State Journalism students to teach the Columbus International School how to create and publish a school newspaper.

Columbus International is a new Columbus public school that specializes in the study of foreign language and social consciousness/world affairs. Comm students will teach  CIS students what is news value, how to identify the WWWWH and how to write in the inverted pyramid and feature styles. You will also work as editors to make the content the best it can be, and get it published to an online newspaper platform.

An added feature: We will be partnering with the Ohio State Language Department so that this newspaper can be created or translated into the school’s core languages of French, Spanish and Mandarin Chinese.

The internship course will be meeting Mondays from 11:30-12:25 p.m., but the timing can also be flexible if that does not fit your schedule.
